HORROR STORY GENERATOR by Sasha

I will never forget the night it happened. I was relaxing with a good book and my faithful lion, Sophie. Suddenly there was a loud Tick-Tick-CLANG. I sprang to my feet and crept downstairs, trying to be as bubbly as I could. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. Suddenly I heard the Tick-Tick-CLANG again. I might have met my end right there, if not for Sophie the cat, who let out a loud "Slurp!" Startled, I jumped loudly to the side just in time to avoid a long gooey appendage. I turned my flashlight on the intruder and gasped in horror. Lurking there in my basement, bathed in the wild glow of my light, was a huge, quivering, shapeless blob of ooze! The hideous thing was as lime green as a Ladie Clair and as big as a Liz.

"SHUT YOUR FACE!" I cried. I fled frenetically upstairs, but the thing chased me with lightning speed. I was trapped, and knew I had to fight if I wanted to survive. First I tried to chop it with a sharp hamburger from the kitchen, then I shot it with my grandpas microphone that hangs over the fireplace. In desperation, I even tried throwing Jack Daniels on it, but all to no avail. It just kept coming. I thought I was dead for sure, when suddenly a strange figure crashed through my window and leapt between us! He was tall and formidable, with fierce black eyes and odd shoulders. He was dressed entirely in black, except for his royal blue MLC & O.Liver Twist Tshirt.

"SUCKA!" the figure cried, and quick as a parakeet he jumped in and stunned the ooze creature with a powerful kick. Without pause he scooped the thing into my drums and tied it shut with a long guitar.

"How did you do that?!" I gasped, trying to catch my breath. "Their only weakness is their middle finger," he replied. "One good kick and the things are helpless." I thanked him for saving my life and asked him his name. "I am ODOT SHAZAM, and I have been hunting the ooze creatures all my life. Join me in my quest and we will make the world safe from their raspy evil!"

Now that I knew the truth, how could I say no? I joined SHAZAM that night and my life has never been the same. I learned how to spot their middle finger in less than 9 seconds, and together we have defeated over 344872900374 of the ooze creatures. I even got my own royal blue O.LIVER TWIST Tshirt.

Brown F.I.S.H.’s name stems from Sunday meetings at Big Rudy’s Crestview home in Baltimore, Maryland, the F.I.S.H.’s hometown, which they refer to as the “F.I.S.H. Bowl”. Whenever the group formerly known as “Lost Tribe” had weekly meetings they had a mandatory fish fry. After eating, they discussed business while partaking in herbal essence rolled flat on one end, resembling the tail of a fish. After discovering a group under Trick Daddy’s Slip-n-Slide label had the same name, they had to institute a name change. O.O.H. says jokingly, “Let’s call the group Brown Fish” Why? For the fried fish at those unifying meetings and those infamous “strictly leaf” brown cigars. Later they added the acronym (F.I.S.H.): First I’ll Save Hip-Hop being the goal and the struggle of the “F.I.S.H.”

People always (always, always, please stop with the clichés, always!) say that ‘Life is Too Short’.

Yet, ‘beating-dead-horses’ 'straw', and ‘brokeback-camels’ aside, folks who subscribe to this ‘train of thought’ really do see both the ‘forest and the trees’ because they understand -- probably, right in the ‘nick of time’ – that any day could be that ‘here’-day that your ‘buck stops’ at. (Okay, that was fun, but I’m done. Honest.)

The paradoxical irony of life is that (for those of us who actually choose to actively participate in it), the precise moment that life starts to makes some sense; starts to gain some order; starts getting put into some sort of perspective –is also the precise moment that you wholly and fundamentally grasp the inescapable truthfulness of it all:

Time is running out.
Your bell really can (and will) be rung –without warning- at any time.

Life truly is too short.

At least for the dumb shit.

Yesterday, Norma Almeraya-Soria was standing on the side of the road, minding her own business I’d suspect.

Living her life. Finding her way. Doing her thing.

A random truck passes by and just as randomly, the truck’s rear wheels pick that very moment in time to disengage from the vehicle’s attached trailer.

Yesterday, 35-year old, Norma Almeraya-Soria died. By some ”You’ve got to be kidding me!”, out-of-control truck trailer, no less – and for no other reason except that this way just ‘the’ day. Her day.

Grand Opening. Grand Closing.

Just like that.

So in the spirit of November 22nd (and as a show of respect for Ms. Soria, who I don't even know), lets get real ladies and gentlemen. Nobody is bursting with excitement, vigor, and optimism every single day or every single waking moment on the earth . Shit happens. People get caught up. But that should never mean that we are ungrateful, ungracious, unthankful, or unwilling to evolve.

Being gracious to the universe for permitting us the honor of simply existing (when so many others – including babies and innocent children- no longer do) should – for each of us- be the status quo. Thanksgiving (that is, giving thanks) must be more than mere words or feel-good theory. Thanksgiving is an ongoing, proactive – not reactive- practice. In order to put your humility into regular rotation, you must…

….define some order in your own life. You must put your life in perspective. You must stop throwing rocks, especially since we all (as O.Liver says) live in glasshouses. And (most importantly) you must DECIDE who you are, what you want, and how you’re going to get it – and then GET THE HELL ON WITH IT!

Are you gon’ be a GROWN-UP or a CHILD? -PICK!
Are you gon’ GET YOURS or GET STUCK? -PICK!
Are you gon’ do RIGHT or do WRONG? -PICK!
Are you gon’ do what THEY WANT or do what YOU WANT? -PICK!

People literally waste their entire lives standing passively (or passive-aggressively) by waiting for Life, or the Universe, or Santa Clause, or , hell I don’t know, Vinny Testaverde to simply hand them a set of instructions on how to adapt to life (for more information on How To Raise Your Kids Properly – see: page 541). And it’s those same people, who – when they take another look around- realize in breathtaking amazement that now they’re too old, or too unwilling to change, or too dead from getting hit in the head by a flying flatbed trailer to make any difference to anyone or anything.

Figure out who the hell you are and go be that. Figure out what you want to believe in and go believe that. Find something (anything) that you want to do and (for the love of all that’s holy) go DO IT.

Stop frontin’. Stop playin’. Stop bullshittin’. Stop hatin’.

And keep your ingratitude and negativity to yourself. Stop wasting everybody’s time (including your own) with your whole self-loathing, woe-is-me, reality bites agenda. Reality indeed bites, yet bearing that in mind, some of us (still) actually take this stuff seriously.

If you’re confused – say you’re confused.
If you’re wrong – say you’re wrong.
If you’re scared – say you’re scared.
If you simply don’t give a fuck – say that too.

I plan to have given ‘dem all ‘a ride’ when(ever) my bell gets rung. You, of course, can do whatever the hell you want. It is YOUR life after all. Just don’t be looking for me to be in the sequel. Cuz I won’t be there.

And since the Universe doesn’t do re-hires… you won’t be there either.

I don’t give a GOOD GODDAMN about Isiah Thomas.

Between him, Larry Brown, and Stephon "Stewie-Head" Marbury and those ugly-ass shoes; the Knicks have managed to turn themselves from one of the greatest teams of all time into an all-time losing machine.

But this Anucha Browne Sanders tomfoolery has got me to thinking.

Browne Sanders said she got fired because she complained about the working environment. But that’s patently untrue. Apparently no one bothered to point out to (this former Northwestern hoopster) that athletics are (and probably forever will be) a MANS GAME.

It matters not that I’m more hype over Saturday Game Day (and the games that follow it) then most dudes I know. Or that Linda Cohn can probably debate you into the ground on which shooting guard –Kobe or D. Wade, for instance- is more of a ball hog. SPORTS. ARE. A. MAN’S. VENUE. And that’s not being sexist, or monomaniacal, or misogynistic. It’s not an excuse for unsavory behavior. It just IS.Certainly they’ll let Pam Oliver say a couple of words on the sidelines. Or give Venus and Serena network airtime. But they are NOT going to make wholesale changes to the CULTURE of the sport...to the ATMOSPHERE of the sport…to accommodate some female. ANY female.

This lady swears that she was fired, and had to eventually hire a lawyer, because management wouldn’t take her seriously when she complained:

1) That Isiah Thomas knows a cuss word or two (specifically, bitch and ho) and isn’t afraid to use them.

2) That Stephon Marbury LIKES the ladies. He had sex in his truck outside a strip club with a Knicks intern named Kathleen Decker. (Decker later testified that not only was the sex consensual, but that she had recently gotten a promotion AND a raise – thank you very much).

3) That Isiah ‘Choir Boy’ Thomas apparently ALSO likes the ladies. Since he allegedly propositioned Brown Sanders to go “off site.” (To do what we may never know.)

3) And that Isiah Thomas knows his colors. Because he once yelled at Sanders saying he didn’t care about those “white” season ticket holders.

But she’s wrong. She didn’t get fired because was a nag (which probably didn’t help her over there in Testosterone Junction either). And she didn’t get fired cuz Starbury the Star thought it’d be funny to call her a ‘black bitch’. She got fired because she was a crybaby. Several months before her ‘complaints’, she was at the home office crying a river about assorted issues and problems.

Of course it’s perfectly acceptable to cry. To express yourself. To be sad. BUT NOT AT WORK. And to be a crybaby AND a potential liability? What choice did the Knicks have but to let her go? Does the NBA- with its fistfights, and dress codes- or the Knickerbockers- with their fistfights and 33-49 record- NOT have more pressing issues to deal with than some overpriced employee (she made almost $300,000 a year) with personnel issues? I’m tryna tell you… cute girls get hated on all day. Cute chicks can’t wear anything, go anywhere or say anything even halfway intelligent without getting outside commentary. Cute girls can be a ‘bitch’, a ‘stuck up bitch’, and a ‘ho who think she cute’ – all before lunch! Cute girls get hit on ALL THE TIME! Thus cute girls get thick skin. EARLY. Most cute girls indeed get the business – all day, but most cute girls also know how to GIVE back the business – in a New York minute.

Many (though not all) dowdy girls, on the other hand, aren’t accustomed to a lot of attention –positive or negative, direct or subtle. So their perceptions are all warped.

If you stick your finger up my skirt without my consent, or tell me I gotta blow you five ways from Sunday just to get some type of promotion, or advancement, or other job-related perk – THEN HELL YEAH IMA SUE YOUR ASS.

But if you call me a bitch, or say some otherwise foul shit then Ima just keep it real hood and say some really foul shit RIGHT BACK! Bout you, bout your mother, bout your presumably, miniscule penis, whatever. Then Ima keep it moving.

Sexual harassment is a very serious subject. And the tendency American women have recently developed of blatantly labeling NON-SEXUAL acts as sexual harassment is REALLY pissing me off. Thanks to all these vague, ambiguous allegations and insinuations many LEGITIMATE claims of harassment, rape, and other types of sexual savagery are taken extremely lightly in the real world. And that’s just not cool.

WORDS HURT ladies and gentlemen. But we don’t get a payout every time someone says something that we don’t like.

Hell, if that was the case, my ‘uppity, thinking I’m cute’ bitch ass woulda BEEN able to retire many (many, many, many, many, many) years ago.

It kinda bugs me out when people use articles (definite or indefinite) to define themselves when pickin alias’s for their music careers. For example:

A Tribe Called Quest
DA Brat
THE NOTORIOUS BIG

Not only does it sound kinda silly, but adding any article before a name makes it hard to alphabetize, label, and categorize stuff.

For example, if I’m organizing the paperwork for licensing agreements with say:

THE GAME
THE ALCHEMIST
THE MAD RAPPER…

Do I file it under ‘G’, ‘A’, and ‘M' or under 'The’?

U feel my dilemma?

So now there’s this (obviously talented) songwriter named THE DREAM. (aka Who let T-Pain’s lil cousin Day-Day make a record!? HA!!) A dude with a name made more confusing not only because it serves as homeboy’s moniker, but also because said name could be equally apropos as:

-the title of a song
-the title of a letter printed in PENTHOUSE Forum
-the title of a one-man play about the life and times of Martin Luther King

~~The~~ Dream’s not only funny because of his name though, what’s also funny is who he’s choosing to have a beef with…

Yup. You guessed it.

See, ~~The~~ Dream wrote several verifiable hits including UMBRELLA, and (the opening single from his new album) SHAWTY IS DA SH*T (10). He also wrote J. Holiday’s debut single BED.

Problem is -for whatever reasons- ya boy Chris thought BED was for him. The writer (~~The~~ Dream), however, begged to differ. So Chris was like, “If I’m not on that track it won’t reach #1.”

(BTW: BED spent weeks at #1 on the HOT R&B/HIP HOP CHART, and is currently #5 on the BILLBOARD HOT 100 so apparently Lil Christopher Maurice misspoke.)

~~The~~ Dream- in the meantime- was telling anyone who would listen that, "Chris said the record won't be No. 1 unless he's on it. I bet someone $500,000 (Uh…yeah…sure u did Dreamer…did u also happen to tell the IRS bout that windfall as well?) that it would go to No. 1 and I collected my money just last week.”

OHHHHHHHHH!! BURN!!

So Chris was like “Well. Fuck U.”
Then The Dream was like, “Naw. Fuck U.”

(That last part was an unauthorized, and adlibbed re-enactment of course.)

But what ~~The~~ Dream really did say was, “Chris said the wrong thing to me. He has a track from me now that I was paid for already and I want to give him his money back. At the end of the day, I'm big on principle and loyalty. Put that to bed."

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z wants his very own arena in New Jersey - named after his Rocawear clothing brand.

The hip-hop star, 37, is currently in talks with The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) over naming rights of the arena in Meadowlands, which is currently held by Continental Airlines.

The rapper - who owns a portion of the NBA team the New Jersey Nets - will face stiff competition from rival fashion brands Izod and Southpole, but the eventual sponsor can expect to pay more than $600,000 a year for the naming rights.

A spokesman for the NJSEA tells AllHipHop.com, "We're looking forward to presentations by bidders next week, and then we'll get into the process of evaluation.

"I'm optimistic that we'll be able to overachieve the current financial deal that we (had) with Continental."

The winner could be announced as early as October 4.

Music and politics -equally misunderstood, and both as equal opportunity as they (supposedly) come- meshed today in the US House of Representatives --under the prompting of Illinois Representative Bobby “Former Black Panther” Rush who lead a Congressional inquiry (inquisition?) into the sexist, violent, and misogynistic content prevalent in some elements of the hip-hop and gaming worlds.

Flush with a few B-List rappers and even more B-List ‘concerned’ activist groups; the Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection subcommittee spent a few hours wasting the taxpayers money by over-talking yet another non-issue that (due to our prickly little US Constitution) they couldn’t have done anything to stop or change in the first place.

Commentary vacillated from the irrelevant: i.e. the nonsensical declaration of E. Faye Williams, chair of the National Congress of Black Women, that “many of our young people (believe) that it is OK to entertain themselves by destroying the culture of our people.” Sure, lady…that’s really what’s going through the mind of the 14-year old who's rockin' the new 50-Cent. To the absurd: i.e. the commitment of Percy ‘Master P’ Miller to not only clean up his lyrics but to (come on now Percy) organize a ‘union’ of rappers who would fine and be fined whenever foul language is used (perhaps Chamillionaire could be their Chairman).

Levell Crump aka David Banner aka If You’re Gonna Give Yourself an Alias Why Would It Be Just a Regular Guy Name was actually one of the few people there making any kinda sense. What he said was: "If by some stroke of the pen hip-hop was silenced, the issues would still be present in our communities." But what he meant was: “People – get fuckin’ real. Are rappers (or rockers for that matter) making this stuff up? Are there really no bitches or hoes? Are there no sluts? No niggers? No niggas? No crackers? No guns? No bling? No murder? No welfare? No freedom of friggin’ expression?”

And that’s the bottomline. This is the real world we live in here. I can (but I won't) name ten sluts, three crackers, seven bitches, four hoes, sixty welfare recipients, two gun runners, one stickup kid, several niggas, and about eight dope boys in my circle ALONE. That doesn’t make me one of them. And even if every rapper on the planet never spoke of them again, they aren’t gonna roll up into a ball and die -- THEY WOULD STILL EXSIST… I mean, everybody knows hookers and convicts are real resilient like that.

Is it possible that (even) in the midst of the 21st Century we, as a society, are still confused as to what it truly means to be an American? Is the concept of the First Amendment really that perplexing that folks do not understand that when the Bill of Rights states that “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech…” that the framers who wrote it were – oh I don’t know- like, uhm, TOTALLY serious dude.

PARENTS -not parental advisory labels- should (you know) parent their own kids. I, along with every other famous person ever, IMPLORE you to stop leaving it up to the record labels, the athletes, the video game designers, and the cable box to monitor, regulate, and define what’s acceptable and what’s not for your life, your children, and yourself.

Independent thought is not (as it’s so commonly held) overrated. I listen to what I want to listen to. Dress how I want to dress. Go where I want to go. Watch what I want to watch. Do what I want to do. And – most aggravating to my short-fused business partner – say what I want to say. I live for the day when anybody – let alone some glossed-up rapper I’ve never met – could ever speak for me. Or direct my lifestyle. Or define my beliefs.

From Elvis to Emerson, all art –music especially- has a function. And creativity in and of itself almost always serves a more far-reaching and necessary purpose then was originally intended. Artistic expression is the definition of the American experience personified. Thus the classification of what is or is not art is –EXCLUSIVLY-- in the eyes (or ears) of the beholder (or belistener). They may say it, draw it, or write it. But (at least in America) they don’t put a gun to my head and insist that I partake of it. On the other hand, if this was, say, Pakistan, they just might.

No disrespect, but what’s really good with this Jena 6 hubbub? Yes, it’s unfortunate that the blacks in Jena, LA have to deal with racism, bigotry, and hatred on a day-to-day basis. But why did it take this particular event to galvanize blacks all over the country to protest, organize, and…uh….wear black?

Of course it’s not right that ANY of this had to happen. But civil rights are violated on a much grander scale every single day. I wonder –for example-- if your child was the one getting their ass kicked how likely you’d be to demand a LIGHTER sentence for the offender. No matter WHAT your child did to exacerbate the whole process.

Kids –hell, people in general – operate under the assumption that there are no consequences for their actions. If you teach your kids to fight –or allow them to tackle life’s unfairness by coming to blows (which I’m not judging by the way), then you’ve also got to allow them to face the consequences of said actions as well.

Plus, the charges have been recently reduced to conspiracy and battery. And if you stomp on somebody’s head (even if they provoke you) then ‘battery’ is exactly what it is.

So as our people march and sweat in their black, at the end of September we ask….

Why aren’t you marching:

2. for the trumped up charges the '6' were ORIGINALLY (though not currently) accussed of (attempted murder)

3. because of the wholesale ingnorance of ANYONE (1) claiming ownership of tree. A tree, people? White tree? Black tree? Are ya'l really that bored down there? (2) giving a damn about some ignorant fools who went to a Home Depot, brought a rope, and tied said rope in ANY configration on ANY surface -- trees included.
If you live in a place that is not healthy for you or yours then...LEAVE. If you tell me 'I can't leave', then I'll tell you that you are more interested in your material goods than your personal safety. If someone was PHYSICALLY harming me and I was UNWILLING to FIGHT BACK (even to the death), then I'm going to leave. I'll sleep on the street (which I doubt I'll HAVE to - because America is brimming with Social Services), I'll sell all my stuff, I'll do what I have to do. Nope! You DON'T and SHOULDN'T be forced away from what is YOURS. But if you aren't willing to GIVE it as good as you're GETTING it then you've got to keep it moving. And regarding racist speech or thought-- not even being funny here-- but I've got a great solution to that - its called the PRINCIPLE OF FSFU. You call me a Nigger. I call you a Low-Brow, Ignorant, Two-Shakes-From-The-Trailer-Park, Pgymillion-esque, Dirty Hair, Get-'Er-Duun-Honky-Bastard-Cracker-Son-of-a-Bitch. I mentor city kids so gutter that they make grown men cry. I can TRASH TALK all day, all night, and into the next day too. Let these people SAY their nasty words. God sued over pestilence and terror
September 19, 2007

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A court in Nebraska is being asked to cast judgement on the ultimate judge -- God.

State lawmaker Ernie Chambers filed a lawsuit Friday against the Almighty -- acknowledging he/she goes by numerous aliases -- for causing "fearsome floods, egregious earthquakes, horrendous hurricanes, terrifying tornadoes, pestilential plagues" and other alliterative catastrophes.

The suit, Chambers vs God, asks the court for a "permanent injunction ordering defendant (God) to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terrorist threats" which affect innumerable persons, including Chambers's constituents.

It asserts that God is "the admitted perpetrator" of such acts and said that God's omnipresence gives the local Douglas County District Court jurisdiction in the suit, adding that God's omniscience eliminates the need to issue a formal notice of the lawsuit.

Chambers told local media he filed the suit to make a point about frivolous lawsuits frequently seen in US courts, citing a recent one against a judge.

He asked the court to award him an unspecified summary judgment against God, or, in the alternative, issue a permanent injunction against God engaging in the damaging acts cited in the filing.

Neither God nor his/her spokespersons could be contacted for comment.

Rick Ross is releasing a new album today (September 18) called RISE TO POWER. The funny thing is, its NOT new material, and it’s NOT being released via his parent company DEF JAM –instead, it’ll be released via the Texas indie label SUAVE HOUSE RECORDS.

See, back in 2000 when ya boy Ricky was plain-ole William Roberts, he was signed to Suave House under owner Tony Draper. Due to some shaky stuff surrounding Suave’s distro deal with INTERSCOPE vis-à-vis JCOR RECORDS, Draper had the good sense (we suppose) to “not tie up” the artist. So – in 2000-- he “allowed” Ross to move to SLIP-N-SLIDE RECORDS.

Fast forward to 2006, Def Jam ‘acquires’ Slip-N-Slide through a joint venture; PORT OF MIAMI drops that August; HUSTLIN’ becomes a club favorite – everybody is happy right?

Hell fuckin’ naw. Draper wants some of that pie too…and who can blame him since, according to him, he did DISCOVER the man we now call Ricky Ross.

Draper gets the bright idea to freshen-up some of William’s old shit and release it under the moniker RISE TO POWER. Initially, Def Jam wasn’t having it (since they do ‘own’ Ross to some extent), and in October 2006 they even went so far as to send Draper one of those infamous ‘cease and desists’ (we love those over here by the way).

In the end, though, all parties came to a very mature gentleman’s agreement. Draper reminded Def Jam that as the owner of Ross’ freshman masters, he could – in effect—do what the hell he wanted to do with those tracks. And Def Jam called off their dogs and accepted the points Suave offered as compensation for the album release.

FINALLY… everybody is happy.

As Draper said in Billboard Magazine:

"Def Jam tried to stop me from putting the record out…(they) wanted me to compensate them for building the Rick Ross brand…I ended up giving them a point on the album. I have no problem with Def Jam, but honestly, they couldn't have stopped me. Def Jam stepped up in a classy manor. But if they hadn't raised up, I was ready to go the whole legal route. Def Jam can't stake a claim to the masters that I own."

Damn we LOVE publishing!!! It’s a beautiful thing.
